KIDDERMINSTER Foodbank volunteers are celebrating having moved into a new venue but have predicted a difficult summer holiday period ahead.
The food bank moved just down the road, to 64 to 65 Worcester Street, a stone’s-throw away from its former base.
Volunteers at the foodbank said the new venue is exciting as it is a much bigger space.
A Kidderminster Food-bank spokesperson said: “Existing foodbank clients and referral partners can be assured that we are operating in the same way but we are now able to offer more space, allowing us to develop a more inclusive and positive wellbeing space for everyone.”
Despite the positive move, however, volunteers have taken to social media urging people to donate food.
They say the food bank is short of most things at the moment and feel the situation is going to get worse over the next few weeks, with the school holidays taking place.
One volunteer said: “Children who normally have a free school meal are going to be missing out.
“We’re okay for baked beans, pasta, soup and milk.
“If you could put one of a bottle of squash, a tin of vegetables, fruit, custard, biscuits, or crisps into the collection basket at your local supermarket, it would be greatly appreciated.
“In fact, anything at all would be of tremendous help.”
