KIDDERMINSTER Harriers boss Paul Wotton believes he can help striker Levi Amantchi realise his potential after the 25-year-old joined the club on a season-long loan deal, writes Jacob Scandrett.
Amantchi, who struck in injury time on his debut for Kidderminster against Halesowen Town in a pre-season friendly, joined Harriers from National League rivals Gateshead.
Wotton has had an interest in Amantchi for some time and will finally manage the striker after trying to sign him for the last four years.
Wotton said: “He’s had a stop-start career over the last couple of years.
“I know there’s a player in there and I think I can get it out of him.
“He’s an honest lad. We need different options in the team and every tool in the box.
“He was a handful [against Halesowen] and im glad he scored his goal.”
Having played Droitwich and Halesowen, Kidderminster still face three more pre-season tests before the National League season begins next month.
And Wotton believes his side are already showing signs of progression on the pitch.
Wotton added:”It was a big step up in levels, Halesowen’s fitness levels were good as well,
“It was a really competitive match, lots more minutes in the legs and some good habits.
“There’s things we need to work on all the time, we’ve had a heavy load building up that fitness but there was a lot of pleasing stuff.
“Everything we do is just to build up to the first game of the season step by step.
“Things we did [against Halesowen] are already an improvement from the Droitwich game.
“I always want more but the boys have worked so hard.”
Kidderminster continue their pre-season campaign against Stratford Town on Saturday, July 25 with kick-off at 3pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
