KIDDERMINSTER Harriers began their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 victory away at Step Five Droitwich Spa.
Summer signing Max Brogan and Louis Francis both found the net for Paul Wotton’s side at the King George Playing Fields.
Brogan’s free-kick put Harriers ahead before Francis headed in a second goal to ensure Kidderminster made a winning start to their pre-season campaign.
Harriers play four levels above Droitwich who ply their trade in the Hellenic League Premier Division.
Wotton named two trialists in Kidderminster’s starting XI in the first half which also featured summer arrivals Cian Harries, Callum Dolan and Lewis Walker.
And Harriers made a strong start as a trialist forced Droitwich goalkeeper Dom Rogerson into an early save inside the first 10 minutes.
New arrivals Dolan and Walker then combined well as the latter fired narrowly wide just past the half-hour mark.
And another Harriers trialist saw his effort from a corner blocked on the line as the visitors continued to search for the opener.
Wotton named an almost entirely different line-up for the second half which featured new signings Olly Tipton, Ben Crompton, Zak Brown and Max Brogan.
However, Droitwich almost broke the deadlock after the interval on the hour mark as a free-kick travelled inches past Josh Bishop’s post.
Kidderminster eventually broke the deadlock on 65 minutes when Brogan lifted a free-kick up and over the wall and into the net to open his Harriers account.
And the visitors doubled their lead on 74 minutes as Francis headed in Brogan’s cross to seal victory for the National League side.
Harriers could have added a third late on as Crompton produced a sharp turn in the box only for the Spa goalkeeper to smother the danger.
Kidderminster continue their pre-season campaign against Halesowen Town on Saturday, July 18 with kick-off at 3pm at The Grove.
