A MAN who deliberately drove a van at three teenage boys in Stourport and an associate of his have been jailed to a total of 13 years.
Niall Adams, 30, of Mayflower Close, Stourport, and Brendan O’Sullivan, 30, of Bewdley Road, Stourport, appeared before Worcester Crown Court.
Adams was convicted of two counts of Section 18 Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) with intent, receiving eight years in prison for each count (to run concurrently).
And he was found guilty of driving a motor vehicle dangerously for which he was given 18 months in prison (concurrent). He was also disqualified from driving for 130 months (10 years and 10 months).
O’Sullivan was convicted of one count of Section 18 Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) with intent. For that he was handed five years in prison and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £228 and given a restraining order.
For possession of an offensive weapon in private place, which he was also convicted of, he got 18 months in prison (concurrent).
The incident
Around 1pm on November 1, 2023, three teenage boys were on a suspected stolen motorbike on Hanstone Road in Stourport when they were struck by a grey Ford Transit Van knocking them all off the bike.
One of them – a 14-year-old – was seriously injured and the other two, both aged 15, sustained less serious injuries.
The driver was identified as the registered keeper of the van – Adams. It is believed after deliberately driving into the victims, he stopped at the scene and used his mobile phone to call O’Sullivan.
He turned up at the scene and was handed something out of the van by Adams and they both then left the scene with Adams taking the bike.
O’Sullivan also caught up with one of the 15-year-olds and a fight ensued with injuries sustained by the victim. Police believe these were caused by a blade.
Officers later arrested Adams and O’Sullivan handed himself into the police a few hours later.
