Prolific Stourport shoplifter is handed suspended sentence

A PROLIFIC shoplifter from Stourport has been given a suspended sentence after being convicted of 24 offences at court.

Damian Badger, 36, of Hermitage Way, was arrested, charged and remanded by the Safer Neighbourhood Team and interview team. He then appeared before Kidderminster Magistrates Court on Friday.

Badger was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £1,355.74 in compensation, ordered to complete a drug rehabilitation non-residential course for six months and to carry out 20 hours of unpaid work.

PC Marc Ginder of Stourport SNT, said: “As a result of a team effort from the Bewdley and Stourport Safer Neighbourhood officers and the interview team at Kidderminster Police Station, Badger was charged and remanded into police custody for all 24 offences and swiftly sentenced at court the next day.

“Any further offences by him will see him brought back before the courts where his suspended sentence could turn into a custodial sentence.

“We take offences of shoplifting seriously and will always act to bring such offenders to justice.”
