FOUR people have been arrested after officers found more than 100 cannabis plants while they were investigating a burglary.
Officers launched the investigation following the burglary at Worfield Golf Club, near Bridgnorth, which was reported last Sunday (July 13).
Following enquiries, three suspects were identified and arrested.
On Tuesday (July 15), officers carried out a search at an associated address as part of the ongoing investigation.
During the search, officers discovered a cannabis grow containing more than 100 cannabis plants.
A 47-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy and a 51-year-old man were all arrested on suspicion of burglary and cultivation of cannabis. A 46-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of burglary.
All four have been bailed while enquiries continue.
Insp Paul Drury said: “This investigation demonstrates how quickly our officers have identified suspects, made arrests and pursued every available line of enquiry.
“What began as an investigation into a burglary has also resulted in the discovery of a significant cannabis cultivation, removing more than 100 plants from circulation.
“Cannabis grows are often linked to organised criminality and the illegal supply of drugs, which can have a devastating impact on our communities.
“We remain committed to disrupting those involved in this type of offending and bringing offenders to justice.
“Our enquiries into both the burglary and the cannabis cultivation remain ongoing, and we would continue to ask anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to get in touch.”
