SIGNIFICANT damage has been done to parts of a Kidderminster park after a fire.
A fire broke out at St George’s Park which has caused significant damage to approximately half of the meadow field.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene promptly and has now extinguished the fire, ensuring the affected area has been made safe.
At this stage, the town council believe that the fire may have been started deliberately.
A spokesperson from Kidderminster Town Council said: “We are currently working with our contractors to assess the extent of the damage and implement an appropriate management and recovery plan over the coming days.
“The safety of our park visitors remains our priority.
“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and take any necessary actions to secure and restore the affected area.
“Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for comment.
