Kidderminster Pride 2026 cancelled 'with a heavy heart'

KIDDERMINSTER Pride has been cancelled for 2026 after organisers found the funding and support needed ‘almost impossible’ to secure.

The organisers of the annual event, which is typically held at The Cavalier, took to social media on Tuesday to confirm that there would not be a Pride event in Kidderminster in 2026.

Kidderminster Pride has aimed to bring people from all walks of life together for a day of celebration and is usually organised by Ben Roberts.

The statement read: “It is with a very heavy heart that we have to share that Kidderminster Pride will not be going ahead this year.

“Over the past few years, the event has only been possible thanks to the incredible support of local businesses, donations, volunteers, local council funding, and a huge amount of personal financial support from Ben, alongside the team at The Cavalier.

“Unfortunately, the running costs of putting on an event like this are significant, and this year the funding and support needed has been almost impossible to secure.

“We have had the most amazing few years celebrating Pride in Kidderminster, and we are so grateful to everyone who has supported us, volunteered, donated, attended, and helped create such a special atmosphere for our community.

“We are truly sorry to disappoint anyone who was looking forward to this year’s event, but thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with us and supporting Kidderminster Pride over the years.”

The statement also promised that Pride wasn’t disappearing completely, with organisers currently planning something on a smaller scale.

Ben Roberts said he started the event as the LGBTQ+ scene in Kidderminster had been sparse over recent years, and he aimed to bring a place where everyone could enjoy being who they are in one place.

Fans of the event took to social media to express their sadness at Pride being cancelled.

One said:  “I’m so sorry to hear this.

“I’ve been waiting with my diary to get the date in.

“Hopefully next year you will get the funding you need.”

Another added: “Thank you for putting in the effort over the past years; we have loved it.”
