New Costa Coffee to open in former Stourport HSBC

COSTA Coffee has announced it will be opening up a new shop in a former HSBC bank in Stourport.

The popular coffee chain has revealed the new store will be opening at 37 High Street this summer, which will create up to 10 new jobs in the town.

A planning application, which was submitted to Wyre Forest District Council last month, asks for permission to install exterior shop signage.

No. 37 High Street is a purpose-built former banking building, which was first constructed in 1937.

It was used by HSBC for many years before closing back in 2023.

The building is not statutorily listed but is within a Stourport Conservation Area.

Planning documents show Costa Coffee would replicate the established arrangement of signage historically displayed during the time the building was an HSBC bank.

If approved, a main Costa Coffee shop sign will be installed as well as a hanging wall roundel.

A Costa Coffee Spokesperson said: “We’re excited to be opening a new Costa Coffee store on 37 High Street in Stourport this Summer.

“The new store opening will create up to 10 jobs, and offer the local community a comfortable and modern setting to enjoy their favourite Costa coffee.”
