MEMBERS of Stourport Spartans Boxing Club showcased their skills at the GGG Promotions’ under lights event.

Talented young boxers from across the region took to the ring at the Holiday Inn Mercian Suite on Saturday.

Leading up to the event, excitement had been building around the Stourport Spartans team, with six young athletes selected to compete under the bright lights.

Months of dedication, discipline and hard work in the gym had all led up to this moment.

Impressive performances

First up was Freddie Wills-Bourne who immediately set the standard for the team by confidently delivering a disciplined performance. He also displayed his technical ability along with the progress he has made in training.

Next was Jamie Quilligan who gave an intelligent and focused display. The coaches said he showed the crowd boxing maturity beyond his years and his impressive technical skills.

Bailey Abson-Cresswell followed with a strong and energetic performance, demonstrating excellent movement, commitment and work rate. The coaches said his willingness to learn and develop was evident from the opening bell to the final exchange.

Both a positive attitude and increased determination were seen from Tommy Lee’s confident performance, highlighting his development as a boxer.

And Gracie Hart rounded off the day in impressive fashion. She delivered a composed and technically accomplished performance which underlined her potential within the sport.

As the event came to a close, the Spartans reflected on the evening and found they all worked with determination and courage.

Every member of the Spartans team embodied the values of respect, discipline and sportsmanship throughout the event, making the club immensely proud.

A show of strength

Other respected clubs taking part included Kings and Queens Boxing club, Anchor Gyms, Razor Robinson’s Boxing and MGK Boxing Academy.  They highlighted the strength of the amateur boxing community and the collaborative spirit that exists throughout the sport.

The club wants to thank GGG Promotions for organising an outstanding show and creating a professional environment where young boxers could continue their development.

Special appreciation from the club also goes to the referees, medics, officials, volunteers, coaches, opposing clubs, and everyone else working behind the scenes.

And family, friends and supporters were thanked for packing the venue and creating a fantastically encouraging atmosphere.
