TRIBUTES have been paid to a lifelong Kidderminster Harriers fan who was known for being kind, warm, humble and fiercely loyal.

Greta Walton, who was described as representing everything good about Kidderminster, recently passed away at the age of 93.

A popular figure at Aggborough, Greta supported her beloved Harriers home and away. She continued to purchase season tickets for her and husband Ted, long after his passing.

Greta was able to celebrate with her team as they won promotion to the National League. And she got to pose for pictures with the National League North Promotion Final trophy after the team’s win.

A spokesperson for Kidderminster Harriers said: “Harriers were saddened to hear of the recent death of lifelong fan Greta Walton at the age of 93.

“We’re so glad she was able to enjoy news of our promotion before her passing. Rest in peace, Greta – you’ll be missed.”

Harriers forward Bruce Minaker, who only made his first team debut earlier this year, met Greta and posed for pictures with the National League North Promotion Final trophy.

In a touching tribute to her, he added: “Greta was a lovely person and so funny too, and an incredibly passionate and committed Harriers supporter.

“It was an absolute pleasure to be able to meet and share the trophy with her – a conversation I’m sure to never forget.

“She’ll be sorely missed.”

Other fans who knew Greta well or who met her while at the football have also paid tribute to their fellow Harriers fan.

One said: “It was such a privilege and an honour to visit Greta in her final days with Bruce.

“We spent time laughing about all things Harriers, sharing memories of football and reflecting on life’s journey.

“Even then, her love for the club shone through.

“Greta was truly salt of the earth, kind, warm, humble and fiercely loyal.

“She represented everything that’s good about Kidderminster and what makes this club so special.

“People like Greta are the heartbeat of the Harriers family.

“I’m so grateful I had the chance to spend that time with her.”

Another added: “Greta was the lovely lady that my wife and I used to sit next to at the matches.

“We shall miss her company.”
