A DECISION is set to be made soon on the operator of the new Brinton Park pavilion café, after one of the candidates pulled out of the race.

Back in May, Wyre Forest District Council invited expressions of interest to run the new café at Brinton Park.

Interviews with interested parties have taken place over the past few days.

Smash My Patty, a Kidderminster burger business, confirmed on social media this week that it had been in trhe running to take over the new café.

However, they said that, after a lot of thought, they had decided to withdraw from the Brinton Park Pavilion Café opportunity.

The statement added: “We’d like to wish whoever takes it on the very best of luck and every success.

“For us, it simply wasn’t the right fit at the right time. With the café not being ready until September, we’d miss the busy summer period, and after carefully weighing everything up, we felt it was the right decision to step away.

“Sometimes, the hardest decision in business is knowing when to say no.”

A spokesperson for Wyre Forest District Council said: “Smash My Patty was one of several businesses being considered for the Brinton Park café opportunity and was invited to interview and present its proposal.

“No decision had been made on who would operate the café.

“Interviews with other interested parties have taken place over the last couple of days.

“We’re still evaluating all the information, but we hope to have a decision soon.”

Alongside the café, the new pavilion offers a terrace, public toilets and a community activity hub.

The new pavilion is part of a £3million refurbishment of the much-loved park.

The new structure is being created sensitively to reflect the heritage of the park’s original Sons of Rest pavilion, which was built in 1938.
