West Midlands Safari Park zebra leaves to help protect species

REGULARS to West Midlands Safari Park had to say goodbye to one of the resort’s best-loved animals after popular zebra Manilow was moved to a new home.

Manilow, aged two, has safely arrived at his new home at Chessington World of Adventures Resort.

Manilow will be part of the EEP breeding programme, helping to support the future of Grevy’s zebras.

The young zebra was born at West Midlands Safari Park to mum Akuna back in 2024.

A spokesperson for the Safari Park said: “It’s been a privilege to watch Manilow grow, and while he’ll certainly be missed, we’re excited to see him play an important role in the conservation of his endangered species.

“With only around 3,000 Grevy’s zebras remaining in the wild, every individual is incredibly important.

“Carefully managed breeding programmes like the one Manilow is involved in help to maintain healthy populations and give this remarkable species a brighter future.”
