THE PRIVATE rent price hike in Wyre Forest is beginning to calm down, new stats reveal.
The latest figures from the Office of National Statistics show, while the average price of rent in Wyre Forest is still higher than it was a year ago, it is £30 cheaper than it was in February.
Private rents were an average of £835 across Kidderminster, Bewdley and Stourport in April – £9 higher than they were this time last year.
This is significantly less than the £865 average in February, up £71 from a year before.
Private rents were an average of £862 per month in January 2026, £72 more than people were paying per month 12 months earlier.
However, the prices began to decrease in March, with the average price of private rents being £849 – £37 more than they were a year ago.
In total, private renters would have paid out an average of £2,411 to landlords over the first third of the year, £189 more than they did between January and April 2025.
One-bedroom properties cost an average of £591 in Wyre Forest, while for two bedrooms, renters will have to shell out £751.
Three-bedroom rented properties will set renters back an average of £908 a month and it costs £1,259 every four weeks for a four-bedroom house.
Rent in Wyre Forest has seen the smallest increase over the past year.
Bromsgrove’s rent has gone up by £18 per month, while Redditch and Wychavon have gone up by £12 each.
The biggest increase is in Malvern Hills, where rents spiked by an average of £74 a month, while in Worcester, renters are paying an average of £48 more each month.
In the Government’s Renters’ Rights Act, which came into effect on May 1, landlords can only put the rent up once per year.
In addition, should they wish to put the rent up, they must give at least two months’ notice to the tenant.
