DOZENS of households in Wyre Forest are now living in warmer, healthier homes and paying less on their energy bill.
It comes following more than £419,000 in funding from the Government’s Warm Homes Local Grant and Wyre Forest District Council’s Energy Efficiency Measures Fund.
The funding was used to improve 38 homes across the district.
Many received loft insulation and solar panels, while others benefited from cavity wall insulation, double glazing and heating upgrades.
These improvements are expected to save the average household between £200 and £400 a year on energy bills.
As well as helping residents save money, the improvements are expected to reduce carbon emissions by around 25 tonnes each year, supporting the aims of the council’s Greener Wyre Forest programme.
This is to cut carbon emissions, protect the environment and make the district a cleaner, healthier place to live.
Coun Chris Rogers, Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Wellbeing said: “We are delighted to have helped more households improve their homes through the Warm
Homes Local Grant and our own Energy Efficiency Measures funding.
“These upgrades are making homes warmer, cutting energy bills and creating healthier places to live.
“We will continue to look for funding that helps local people and supports our net zero ambitions.”
Homeowners and private renters may be able to get the grant if their household income is less than £36,000-a-year, or if they receive certain means-tested benefits.
Their home must also have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F or G.
