DAN Rowbottom secured a double podium at Donington Park in the latest round of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).
The Kidderminster driver finished third in races one and three to move onto eight podiums for the season.
He now sits fourth in the drivers’ standings with two rounds of the season left to race.
Rowbottom said: “The car was really good. To come back from P12 in race three was quite good.
“We had a lot of deployment, we had a lot of turbo boost, we had eight laps.
“We knew if we could get somewhere near we’d have a right good go.
“We didn’t have a great race two with the safety car restart.
“I made a bit of an error and locked the front axle and ended up in the back of Ash [Sutton’s] car.
“It was a little bit rough and ready in the opening laps of the first race but that’s BTCC.
“There’s some cars in the top-six of the championship that are all hyper competitive.
“Tom [Ingram] and Ash [Sutton] made a really good break in points early in the year.
“Had the first two or three rounds not gone the way they did, I think the championship would be a four-horse race now.”
Rowbottom posted the fastest lap time in first practice and led the way for NAPA Racing UK in the first qualifying session.
However, none of NAPA’s drivers managed to make it through to the quick six with Rowbottom seventh on the grid.
Rowbottom secured a seventh podium finish of the season in race one as he crossed the line in third place.
Forced onto the hard tyre in race two, Rowbottom collided with teammate Sutton following a safety car restart.
That meant the Kidderminster driver had to settle for a 12th place finish in race two.
However, Rowbottom saved his best drive of the weekend until last.
He rose from 12th on the grid to third to secure an eighth podium of the season.
The BTCC season continues at Silverstone on the weekend of September 20 and 21.
