KIDDERMINSTER Chess Club triumphed against Walsall Kipping in their Wolverhampton League Division One match.
The club’s A team claimed a 3-1 victory against Walsall A as John Wrench won a relatively short game to put the home side ahead.
Wrench forced his opponent to resign with checkmate inevitable on board three while Jonathan Swindells agreed a draw on board one.
Kidderminster’s Jay Haycock also agreed a draw which meant Joseph Friar only needed to avoid defeat in his game to win the match for the home side.
And Friar triumphed in style against Jana Bellin (grandmaster and former British Ladies champion) to win the game for Kidderminster.
