ADAM Murray admits he and his Kidderminster Harriers players must ‘clear their heads’ following a midweek defeat at Spennymoor Town.

Harriers lost successive league games for the first time since October as Spennymoor stunned Kidderminster with three goals in 10 second-half minutes at Brewery Field.

After Seb Thompson put Harriers in front at the break, goals from Corey McKeown, Olly Dyson and Glen Taylor turned the game in the home side’s favour.

The result means Kidderminster drop to fourth in the National League North table, six points clear of the chasing pack in the race for a play-off place.

And Murray wants his players to clear their heads with just six league games left to play this season.

Murray said: “In the first half, we were so comfortable, we could have had two or three more goals and were comfortable in our defending.

“The script totally flipped in the second half. We looked really disjointed at times and people not understanding their roles and coming off script a little bit.

“We’ve conceded six goals from six individual errors in two games and that’s not us.

“We’ve been punished for that. We’ve lost some big players over recent weeks and it’s shown in the last two games.

“New boys have come in and it was always going to take a few games to get up to speed and understand how we play and that was my concern.

“We’re just in a little period where everything seems to have fallen against us but this is where we’ve got to dig in and come together.

“It’s not a game for wobbly head time, we’re a very good team, we’ve proven that over the course over a long season.

“We’ve just got to make sure we clear our heads and get back to what we’re about and what we do.”

The defeat brings an end to a difficult run for Harriers which saw the club play five consecutive away matches.

However, Murray insists his side are targeting third place in the table and wants to finish the regular season with some momentum.

Murray added: “It’s the mental side that catches you more and I felt we looked fatigued in the last two games.

“We have to be better but these last two games have really pushed our limits physically and mentally.

“There’s a long way to go. People keep saying to me you’ve got to get third place. Let’s stay humble and get in the play-offs.

“We want third place and we’re going to go for third place and we’re giving everything we can to get that third place.

“But I don’t want us to take our eye off the ball. We want to finish the season with momentum.

“We’ve looked mismatched in these last two games so we’ve got to get back to that consistency we had for so long.”

Kidderminster are next in action against Hereford on Friday, April 3 with kick-off at 3pm at Aggborough.
