FOOTBALL - Adam Murray admits Kidderminster Harriers 'need reinforcements' after narrow Alfreton Town win

ADAM Murray admits Kidderminster Harriers ‘need reinforcements’ following a hard-fought victory against Alfreton Town.

A late goal from Reece Devine earned the points for Harriers at Aggborough with the club fourth in the National League North table.

However, Harriers received a blow in the lead up to the game with defender Paul Kalambayi recalled by parent club Dagenham and Redbridge.

And Murray insists Kidderminster must target new recruits in the near future to help the club achieve their goals this season.

Murray said: “We need help. We need some bodies in the building. We need some fresh legs and some fresh energy.

“Surprise is a nice way to put it [regarding Kalambayi’s recall]. He’s been a massive player for us but that’s football. He’s a top player and he’s done really well for us.

“The squad needs reinforcements. We’ve lost a fair few players over recent months and not really filled in.

“If we’re serious about competing, we need to look at that but we march on.”

Harriers returned to winning ways against Alfreton following a cruel penalty shootout defeat against Wealdstone in the FA Trophy last weekend.

However, Murray felt his side lacked purpose on the ball against Alfreton but praised his players for finding a way to win.

Murray added: “It was a really tough game. We knew we’d have to be patient with the ball.

“But there’s being patient and there’s being patient, slow and boring and having no purpose.

“We didn’t have enough purpose in our play for 70 minutes and when we did get in, we lacked putting the ball in the net.

“A sign of a good team is, when you’re average you grind out a result and we ground it out.

“I’m really proud of the boys for sticking in there and grinding it out.

“We did enough to win the game and never really felt under much pressure.”

Kidderminster are next in action against Buxton on Saturday, March 7 with kick-off at 3pm at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.
