FOOTBALL - Adam Murray feels Kidderminster Harriers have found another gear after Peterborough Sports victory

ADAM Murray feels Kidderminster Harriers have ‘shifted into another gear’ following a dominant 4-0 win against Peterborough Sports.

Harriers cruised to victory at Aggborough as Ryley Reynolds, Seb Thompson, Kieren Donnelly and Amari Morgan-Smith all found the net for the home side.

The result leaves Kidderminster fourth in the National League North table, nine points clear of the chasing pack in the race for a play-off place.

And Murray felt Harriers played with purpose throughout the game as the club secured a fourth successive victory in the league.

Murray said: “We were outstanding from the first minute.

“We made a big point to the players before the game that these are the game that can slip you up.

“We made a massive point of being professional but our word was purpose and we wanted purpose in everything we did.

“The wind affected [the game] in the first half. The first half was a bit scrappy but we came out in the second half and really dominated and were clinical with our finishing.

“Another clean sheet which is always a good base you need if you want to be successful and now we’re starting to score goals.”

First-half goals from Reynolds and Thompson, who both found the net in Kidderminster’s weekend win against Buxton, put Harriers in command at the break.

Recent arrivals Kieren Donnelly scored his first goal for the club early in the second half before Amari Morgan-Smith completed the scoring.

And with Harriers playing three games in the space of a week until the end of the month, Murray is keen to keep the minds of his players fresh in the coming matches.

Murray added: “There was a lot of chat at the start of the season and a lot of finding of net.

“But the team and the players, over the last few months, have really shifted into another gear.

“The last three results are just an example of that. It’s another three points but that’s it.

“At this time of the season it’s not just the physical pounding it takes on the bodies, it’s the mental side of things.

“It’s the mental side more than anything that I’ve got to focus on because we need people fresh.”

Kidderminster are next in action against Chester on Saturday, March 14 with kick-off at 3pm at Aggborough.
