ADAM Murray felt Kidderminster Harriers showed ‘desire and hunger’ in an improved performance from his side in a 1-1 draw at Chester.
Harriers went ahead through Ryley Reynolds’ first-half header only for Dylan Mottley-Henry to draw Chester level after the break at Deva Stadium.
Kidderminster have failed to win any of their last six matches in all competitions but snapped a two-game losing run by drawing at Chester.
And Murray praised the mentality of his side to produce an encouraging performance following a heavy home defeat against Radcliffe a week ago.
Murray said: “It was the most all-round performance we’ve had for a long time.
“After the recent two results, there was a real hurt in the camp and a hurt in the support and we all felt it.
“It’s been a really tough week but I’m really proud of the substance of the team.
“We tweaked a couple of bits and I saw a team with passion, desire and hunger.
“I’m really happy the mentality the group showed, they all stood up to a man.”
Harriers handed a debut to defender Paul Kalambayi while newly-appointed assistant manager Stuart Watkiss supported Murray in the dugout for the first time.
And Murray felt the result and performance lifted the weight off his side’s shoulders following a difficult spell of games.
Murray added: “We just had to stop that little bleed after the last couple of results we had.
“We just had to put a plaster on it and we did it with a really good performance.
“You could feel the lift off the shoulders [of the players] knowing that we are one of the best teams in this league.
“When we play like that we’ll give anybody a game and on another day we come away with three points.
“We’ve been finding our feet and I feel the last week has been a really big shift for us in everyone’s mindset.”
Kidderminster are next in action against Merthyr Town on Tuesday, October 21 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Penydarren Park.
