FOOTBALL - Adam Murray hopes Kidderminster Harriers draw against Bedford Town will act as 'warning'

ADAM Murray hopes Kidderminster Harriers’ goalless draw against Bedford Town will act as a ‘warning’ for his side.

Harriers stretched their unbeaten run to 11 matches in all competitions after playing out a stalemate with Bedford at The Eyrie in midweek.

And Murray felt Kidderminster did not meet the standards they have set in recent weeks and lacked quality throughout the contest.

Murray said: “I didn’t think we were at our normal standards. We were sloppy and complacenet.

“We’re lucky that Dibs [Christian Dibble] was aggressive in his start position and took on board his side of the gameplan.

“I don’t think we deserved anything more [than a point]. There wasn’t enough quality on show.

“The quality wasn’t there. This is a warning because we can’t just turn up and expect things to happen.

“We lacked something and that’s something for us to look at.

“We’ve gone on the run we’ve gone on because we’re making things happen and we know we have to max out as a team.

“I felt we came [to Bedford] too complacent and that’s always the worry when you’re on an unbeaten run.”

Harriers last lost in the league in November and have embarked on a strong run of form which has consolidated the club’s place in the National League North play-off spots.

However, Murray did not feel his players approached the game against Bedford with the strongest possible mindset and attitude.

Murray added: “I was really frustrated with our management of the game.

“In the first half, we had a lot of the ball and a lot of control but our decision-making was poor.

“We changed things at half time because I didn’t think performance levels were where they needed to be.

“Our decision-making at times was confusing which has not been like us for a long time.

“We’re not this super team that just turns up and wins every week. We’ve earned the right to be in the position we’re in.

“I want to see an elite mindset and an elite attitude and I didn’t see it.”

Kidderminster are next in action against Halifax Town in the FA Trophy on Saturday, January 31 with kick-off at 3pm at The Shay.
