FOOTBALL - Adam Murray pleased to see Kidderminster Harriers 'identity' in Marine victory

ADAM Murray felt Kidderminster Harriers showed their ‘identity’ on the pitch in the club’s dominant 4-0 win against Marine.

A brace from Reece Devine put Harriers in command at the break before Emeka Obi and Amari Morgan-Smith struck in the second half at Aggborough.

The result leaves Harriers fourth in the National League North table, five points clear of the chasing pack in the race for a play-off place.

And Murray praised his side for remaining patient in possession and felt Harriers played with more purpose throughout.

Murray said: “We knew it was a big game. We were really aware of their threats but we made a big point of making sure we saw our identity.

“We have to get used to, not just the players but the supporters as well, that when teams come and sit and park the bus, we’ve got to be patient.

“Sometimes we will have to go side-to-side just to move the opposition and wear them down. We’ve been guilty in some games of forcing it.

“We made a point of having more control and I need everyone to buy into that. I need the players to and I need the supporters to.

“There might be times where it’s a little bit boring but there’s a purpose with it and you can see that with the last goal.

“We can’t be full throttle and everything is energy every game. There’s different games and opposition teams bring different gameplans that we have to break down.”

Harriers scored four goals in a league game for the first time this season against play-off hopefuls Marine.

And Murray hopes his side can build on the victory and stressed the need for Harriers to maintain their ruthless mentality in front of goal.

Murray added: “We were ruthless in our finishing and when we do that we’re a very good team.

“Hopefully we can build on that ruthless mentality. We create a lot of chances, we’ve got to turn the half-chances into better chances.

“And when we get the better chances we’ve got to punish teams and if we can do that we’ll finish [the season] strongly.

“The challenge we’ve got over the remaining games is keeping the energy high on the pitch.

“As much as we want consistency and continuity to go Saturday-Tuesday repeatedly is going to be really tough.”

Kidderminster are next in action against Wealdstone in the FA Trophy on Saturday, February 28 with kick-off at 3pm at Aggborough.
