ELLIOTT Lees scored a brace as Bewdley Town beat Shortwood United 3-1 to claim their first league win of the season.

Bewdley came from behind to take the points as Jack Bailey drew the home side level before Lees netted a brace at Ribbesford Meadows.

The result means Bewdley sit 11th in the Hellenic League Division One table.

Shortwood deservedly broke the deadlock on 28 minutes when Alfie Bradshaw lobbed the ball over Bewdley goalkeeper Kai Lloyd.

However, Bewdley equalised before the break as Bailey volleyed home Jake Hollylee’s cross from 12-yards out.

And Lees completed the turnaround two minutes after the interval with a touch and volley from the corner of the penalty area.

Lees sealed the points for Bewdley on 79 minutes with a powerful drive from 18-yards out which left the Shortwood goalkeeper with no chance.

Bewdley are next in action against Wellington on Tuesday, August 12 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Kensal Ground.
