KIDDERMINSTER Harriers are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy after beating National League side Halifax Town 4-3 in a dramatic penalty shootout, writes Neil Gordon.
Joe Foulkes was Harriers’ hero after scoring the decisive spot-kick as the Reds triumphed to book their last-eight place in the competition at the Shay Stadium today (Saturday).
Foulkes had earlier levelled the scores late in the game to cancel out debutant Kieron Morris’s first-half opener for hosts Town.
Kidderminster’s other penalty scorers were David Davis, Reece Devine and Ryley Reynolds, while Reds goalkeeper Christian Dibble made two crucial penalty saves from Shaun Hobson and Adam Adetoro.
Halifax are the second National League side Kidderminster have beaten in this season’s FA Trophy, after emphatically beating struggling Morecambe 6-2 in the last round, following victories against lower-ranked Corby and fellow National League North side Worksop Town.
And Kidderminster will now be waiting to discover who they will be playing in the quarter-finals on Saturday, February 28, with possible opponents including Yeovil Town, Southend United, Wealdstone, Southport, Horsham, Marine or Woking.
Kidderminster play Macclesfield on Tuesday, February 3. Kick-off is 7.45pm at the Leasing.com Stadium.
