KIDDERMINSTER Harriers have appointed former Aggborough boss Stuart Watkiss as assistant manager to Adam Murray.

The 59-year-old previously managed Harriers from November 2004 to January 2006 winning 17 of his 55 games at the helm.

Watkiss took charge of Kidderminster during the club’s most recent stint as a Football League club.

He has now returned to Aggborough following spells at assistant manager of the Bangladesh national team and Jamshedpur in the Indian Super League.

Watkiss most recently worked with Murray as assistant manager at Eastbourne Borough last season.

Murray said: “It’s something I didn’t feel I needed in the summer, but with the way we’re looking at our environment and the way we want to move the staff around to get the best out of what we’ve got in terms of the players here, and bringing a bit more knowledge and experience to the staff, it helps me, to be honest.

“He’s an older head and we’ve been successful together and have a lot of experience.

“He’s been there an done it and is as hard as nails – it’s great to get Stu on board, it will give us that extra bite, which I think we need.

“He used to be my manager at Mansfield, and he’s been at this club before, so he understands the dynamics of the club.

“He’ll add a lot in terms of that, but the main thing is that he’s got a lot of football knowledge, you can’t put a price on the experience he’s got.”

Watkiss will be in the dugout for the club’s fixture against Chester this weekend.
