KIDDERMINSTER Harriers came from behind to beat promoted Bedford Town 2-1 at Aggborough and close the gap at the top of the table, writes Neil Gordon.
A determined Reds side put behind them the angst of conceding an equaliser deep in stoppage time at Alfreton last time out, on a night of incessant rain.
Jack Clarke and Dan Mooney both claimed first-half strikes to give the Reds victory, as Harriers scored twice in a game for only the third time this season.
For Bedford Town, Ellis Brown gave the visitors a shock early lead as they looked for their fourth consecutive win.
A crowd of 2,045 watched Kidderminster move to fourth in the National League North table on 27 points, and reduce the gap on leaders AFC Fylde to eight points.
The unmarked Brown stunned Aggborough when he put Town in front after just five minutes.
The Reds hit-back with Clarke’s close-range header firmly planted home just two minutes later from Joe Foulkes perfect cross.
Harriers completed the turnaround on 20 minutes when Mooney’s low powerful shot clipped Cole Kpekawa and looped over his goalkeeper to put Harriers ahead.
Tobi Sho-Silva and Mooney both then forced ex-Harriers loan player Joe Wright in the Bedford goal into saves, as Kidderminster sought a third goal.
Kurt Willoughby went down inside the box under a challenge as the interval approached, but the referee waved away the home side’s appeals for a penalty.
And after the break Harriers continued to take the game to Town with Owen Evans’ fierce shot stinging Wright’s gloves, while Emeka Obi was denied during a scramble.
Christian Dibble was seldom threatened in the home goal as Kidderminster saw out the game to claim their fourth home league win of the season.
Kidderminster face Darlington on Saturday, November 8 with kick-off at 3pm at Aggborough.
