FOOTBALL - Kidderminster Harriers' Davis grabs late winner over rivals Hereford

Kidderminster Editorial 3rd Apr, 2026 Updated: 7th Apr, 2026

DAVID Davis struck at the death to give Kidderminster Harriers a dramatic 2-1 victory over fierce local rivals Hereford, writes Neil Gordon.

The result saw The Reds return to winning ways, cementing their play-offs push.

Davis’ winner came after Ryley Reynold’s early Harriers strike was cancelled out superbly by Lawson D’Ath’s clinical free-kick. It was just before the interval as Kidderminster looked to bounce back from two defeats.

A crowd of 4,213 packed into Aggborough as Harriers reached 72 points in fourth place in National League North.

Seb Thompson almost gave the home side the perfect start. But his fierce curling shot cannoned off the underside of the visitor’s crossbar before being cleared.

Thompson then burst down the right and sent a great ball across the Hereford box, but the chance went begging and the visitor’s survived.

The breakthrough arrived moments later. Reynolds shot found the inside of the back post from Josh Robinson’s cross after a surging run by Emeka Obi.

Soon after the game was halted when Davis and the Bull’s Kyle Howkins collided in mid-air following a challenge, but mercifully both players continued after treatment.

As the interval approached Hereford made it 1-1. D’Ath comfortably beat Rhys Lovett in the Reds goal with a superbly drilled free-kick, sending the 801 travelling supporters ecstatic.

And the second-half saw numerous free-kicks awarded and yellow cards being issued with both teams apparently unable to land the decisive blow.

The clock ticked down and a frustrating draw beckoned for Harriers. Then Davis’ powerful deflected shot found the visitors’ net. It sent Aggborough wild and left relegation-threatened Hereford dejected.

Kidderminster play AFC Telford United at the SEAH Stadium on Easter Monday, April 6. Kick-off is 3pm.
