ANOTHER stoppage time equaliser saw Kidderminster Harriers let victory slip from their grasp and gift Buxton a 2-2 draw, writes Neil Gordon.
For the third home match running Kidderminster conceded a stoppage time leveller at Aggborough.
And for the second consecutive home match Harriers were left frustrated after Buxton’s second goal came two minutes after the allotted four extra minutes had passed.
Amari Morgan-Smith and Kurt Willoughby both scored their first goals of the season to leave Harriers rightly optimistic of securing victory.
However, Buxton had other ideas and Luke Brennan first levelled the scores before Max Bardell struck at the death.
The result sees Kidderminster sit sixth in the National League North table on 16 points as a crowd of 3,015 at Aggborough saw the Reds’ unbeaten home run extend to five games.
Morgan-Smith deservedly put Kidderminster ahead on 24 minutes after turning inside the box and wrong-footing Buxton goalkeeper Paul Cooper.
The strike came after both teams had traded long-range efforts in search of an opening.
Reece Devine’s powerful shot then forced the visiting goalkeeper to prevent a certain goal after good work from Morgan-Smith.
However, Buxton drew level after the interval when Brennan had the freedom of Aggborough to equalise on 53 minutes from Callum Ebanks’ assist.
And Kidderminster responded immediately with Willoughby scoring his first goal for the club from a corner on 55 minutes to his own clear ecstasy.
That goal should have been sufficient for Harriers to seal victory but Devine gave away a free kick two minutes after the allotted four minutes stoppage time.
And Bardell gleefully headed an equaliser past on-loan Harriers goalkeeper Joe Wright to leave Kidderminster devastated.
Kidderminster are next in action against Peterborough Sports on Saturday, October 4 with kick-off at 3pm at Lincoln Road.
