KIDDERMINSTER Harriers moved up to third in the table with an impressive 2-0 victory away at play-off contenders Darlington.

Second-half goals from David Davis and Ryley Reynolds earned Harriers the points at Blackwell Meadows.

And the result moves Kidderminster up to third in the National League North table as Harriers cemented their place in the play-off spots.

The home side went close early on as Jack Maskell won possession high up the pitch and sent a shot narrowly over the crossbar before Cedric Main headed wide.

Harriers responded with a chance of their own as Charlie Cooper saw his attempt drift wide after good work from Brayden Johnson.

However, the visitors broke the deadlock just 28 seconds after the break as half-time substitute Davis raced through and kept his cool to find the net from Kieren Donnelly’s pass.

Kidderminster went close again soon after as Donnelly’s shot bounced off Darlington goalkeeper Rory Watson before the home side cleared to safety.

Darlington searched for an equaliser as on-loan Harriers goalkeeper Jamie Pardington reacted sharply to maintain his clean sheet on debut.

Harriers looked certain to double their lead when Reece Devine burst through and rounded the goalkeeper only for Ben Hedley to block the defender’s goalbound shot.

However, the away side eventually sealed the points five minutes from time as Reynolds charged down the left, cut in and curled a shot into the right corner of the net.

Kidderminster are next in action against Oxford City on Saturday, March 28 with kick-off at 3pm at the MGroup Stadium.
