KIDDERMINSTER Harriers Women secured their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory against Notts County.
Goals from Millie Rogers and Olivia Woolston put Andy Fisher’s side in command at the break at the King George Playing Fields.
A second-half penalty from Shoniqua Barnes saw Notts County halve the deficit but Harriers held to pick up their first three points of the season.
The result means Harriers sit seventh in the Women’s National League Division One Midlands table.
Harriers broke the deadlock on 26 minutes when Rogers saw her effort deflect into the net after the visitors blocked Niamh Deasy’s initial effort.
And the home side doubled their lead seven minutes later as Woolston raced onto Amber Lawrence’s quickly-taken free-kick and coolly found the bottom left corner.
However, the visitors halved the deficit on 72 minutes when the referee awarded Notts County following a sliding challenge in the box.
And Barnes converted from the penalty spot as she blasted home from 12-yards out via the underside of the crossbar.
The away side searched for an equaliser and almost drew level only for Harriers goalkeeper Amber Pilsbury to make a crucial save to preserve the points.
Newly-promoted Harriers Women started the season with a 1-0 defeat away at Sheffield.
Harriers then suffered another 1-0 defeat against Northampton Town at home.
Kidderminster are playing their home games at Droitwich Spa’s King George Playing Fields ground this season.
The move will enable Harriers Women to facilitate the necessary ground requirements at their Centre of Sporting Excellence (COSE) home for the Women’s National League.
Harriers Women are next in action against Worcester City in the National League League Cup on Sunday, September 7 with kick-off at 2pm at Sixways Stadium.
