FOOTBALL - Paul Wotton targets new signings at Kidderminster Harriers and wants to bring in another striker

PAUL Wotton insists Kidderminster Harriers still have signings to make with another striker top of his priority list ahead of the new season.

Harriers have already signed five new players ahead of the 2026/27 campaign with Callum Dolan, Ben Crompton, Max Brogan, Lewis Walker and Zak Brown all making the switch to Aggborough.

Kidderminster boss Wotton stressed the need to find another option at top end of the pitch to support existing strikers Layton Love and Walker.

And Wotton also hopes to utilise the loan market but admits any temporary signings will likely happen later in the transfer window.

Wotton said: “We’re still actively in the market for another centre forward.

“We’re not done in forward areas. Far from it. We’ve got Layton Love and Lewis Walker but we need another one because sometimes I’ll play two up front.

“Layton is a great finisher, he’s a good size with good stature and he’s got a good attitude as well.

“We’ve still got signings to make. Recruitment is very difficult, it’s getting harder and harder every year. It’s an inflated market.

“The loan market is important. They’re very unlikely to happen before the start of pre-season.

“We’ve had approaches for some of our players on loan but we want to keep them to see if they can impress.

“We’ve got a list of targets that we’d like to take on loan but it’s very difficult, they won’t be available until at least two weeks into pre-season.”

Wotton also reflected on the signings of Brogan, Walker and Brown after all three players recently made the switch to Aggborough.

Brogan impressed on loan at Leamington in the National League North last term while Walker hit double figures for Braintree Town and Brown returns to Harriers following a spell at Brackley Town.

Wotton  said: “Max has got National League experience and he’s somebody who has a bit of a point to prove.

“I think that’s important. That’s the sort of player we’re going to be looking at. Someone to come in and make their mark and get their career going.

“It’s that little bit of endeavour and little bit of I’ll show you to prove people wrong. It’s a good motivator in life.

“Lewis is a robust centre forward who scores goals and has great National League experience.

“He’s somebody who wants to be here which is criticial. He’s a good character with a good personality.

“He can hold the ball for us and get us up the pitch. He’s a focal point and a goalscorer. We’re fortunate to get him.

“Midfield is key for us next year, we need people who can get around the pitch with energy and Zak can definitely do that.

“He can nick a goal as well, it’s good to have him back and he fits into what we’re trying to build.”

And as the new season draws ever closer, Wotton believes the Harriers fans have a big role to play in the club’s 2026/27 campaign.

Wotton added: “I’m very proud to be here, I’m very honoured to be the manager of Kidderminster.

“I’m just getting a good feel for it. It’s that togetherness. Everyone has got the same common goal and that’s three points for Kidderminster.

“Without the fans there is no football. They were critical last year in the club achieving success and will be critical next year as they always are.”
