RYLEY Reynolds’ second-half strike sealed all three points for Kidderminster Harriers as the Reds beat Spennymoor Town 1-0 at Aggborough, writes Neil Gordon.
Reynolds struck just after the hour after Tobi Sho-Silva, Joe Foulkes and Dan Mooney had each forced visiting goalkeeper Bobby Jones to take evasive action either side of the interval.
For visitors Spennymoor, Junior Mondal and Robert Ramshaw forced crucial saves from Harriers goalkeeper Christian Dibble, while Corey McKeown missed a gilt-edged chance to equalise in stoppage time.
A crowd of 2,510 saw Kidderminster move up to seventh in the National League North table on 23 points, as the Reds rounded-off a positive week by taking seven points from three games.
Harriers created a plethora of chances in the first-half as Reynolds rifled a shot over the bar while also seeing a shot blocked.
And Spennymoor also denied Amari Morgan-Smith with Harriers camped inside the away side’s penalty box.
Sho-Silva also fired wide and Foulkes dispatched a firm volley goal-bound, before a defender blocked Reece Hill’s effort on the line.
After the interval, Dibble saved from the onrushing Mondal, before Reynolds shot wide and Mooney saw his powerful free-kick diverted around the post.
The North Stand turned up the noise and it wasn’t long before they, and Harriers, were rewarded when Reynolds fired home the only goal of the game on 63 minutes, after Foulkes’ superb lay-off.
Dibble then made a great save to deny Ramshaw who beat the offside trap, while Sho-Silva headed wide as the clock ticked down.
And in stoppage time Town caused a fright when McKeown headed inches over from close range but Harriers survived for a deserved win and another three points.
Kidderminster are next in action against Alfreton Town on Saturday, November 1 with kick-off 3pm at The Impact Arena.
