DAVID Davis proved Kidderminster Harriers’ match-winner as the Reds kicked-off 2026 with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against a determined Curzon Ashton, writes Neil Gordon.

Davis grabbed his third goal of the season as Harriers recorded their eighth home league victory, and fifth consecutive clean sheet, whilst also completing the double over Curzon.

Some 2,759 hardy souls braved freezing temperatures at Aggborough to see Kidderminster remain fourth in National League North table on 46 points.

Harriers almost took the lead from kick-off when Reece Devine’s ball from the left hit the inside of the post and rebounded across goal to Owen Evans, who saw his follow-up shot blocked on the line.

Charlie Cooper then fired past the post as the interval approached, after Curzon’s Brad Holmes kept Christian Dibble busy in the Harriers goal.

Shortly after the break Kidderminster went ahead when Davis steered the ball home at close range from a corner, after prompt action by Paul Kalambayi.

The Reds almost doubled the lead with Evans forcing a save from Callum Hawkins in the Curzon goal, before Ryley Reynolds’ powerful shot was then blocked.

And Davis nearly grabbed his second when striding into the box he forced Hawkins to divert his shot away with an outstretched foot.

Harriers saw out lengthy stoppage time with some relief but also satisfaction at claiming another deserved three points in this opening new year victory.

Kidderminster next play National League Morecambe in the FA Trophy on Saturday, January 10. Kick-off is 3pm at Aggborough.
