STOURPORT Hockey Club’s men’s second XI saw their promotion push dented following a 3-2 defeat against Sutton Coldfield.
Sutton made a fast start and took the lead after just three minutes with a well-worked goal.
And the home side doubled their lead on the 20-minute mark after a Sutton player reacted quickest to score.
However, Stourport halved the deficit when Adam Leeke scored from a short corner.
And the visitors equalised in the second half as Mike Brazier produced a confident finish following a period of sustained pressure in the Sutton half.
However, Sutton reclaimed the lead against the run of play with a deflected goal which proved decisive.
Elsewhere, Stourport’s men’s third XI returned to action with a 5-1 victory against Edgbaston 3rds.
Stourport made the breakthrough with two quickfire goals as David Knott and Munashe Nhongo struck on the counter attack.
Edgbaston reduced the deficit later in the first half only for Nhongo to score his second of the game moments later.
A Dylan Turner tap in put Stourport three goals ahead before Knott completed the scoring late on.
Stourport’s men’s fourth XI also triumphed after claiming a 5-2 win against Bromsgrove 3rds.
The home side took the lead after just two minutes courtesy of a well-taken goal by Rob Nicholls.
And Owen Harris doubled Stourport’s lead only for Bromsgrove to pull a goal back just past the half-hour mark.
A fine finish from Neil Farquharson restored Stourport’s two-goal cushion which they took into the half-time break.
Bromsgrove reduced the deficit again early in the second period but a second goal from Nicholls and late strike from Tom White sealed a comfortable victory.
