STOURPORT Hockey Club’s men’s second XI suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat against Harborne 3rds on their return to action.

The hosts fell behind almost immediately before Harborne added a second goal to leave Stourport with a mountain to climb.

Stourport made a change at the break which paid dividends as coach Elliot Foweraker halved the deficit with a fine solo goal.

Foweraker picked the ball up near the halfway line and spun past his marker before driving through the Harborne defence and calmly finding the net.

And the home side equalised when midfielder Harry McIntyre finished off a strong team move to score his first goal of the season.

However, Harborne scored a late winner in the dying minutes of the match to leave Stourport stunned.

Elsewhere, Stourport’s ladies first team twice came from behind to draw 2-2 against St. Albans 1sts.

St. Albans made a strong start and took the lead after just seven minutes before Sophie Thompson drew Stourport level.

However, St. Albans reclaimed the lead soon after only for Stourport to equalised a second time through another Thompson goal.
