STOURPORT Women’s first XI battled to a 2-1 home win against Oxford Hawks under the floodlights at the Kingsway.
The women’s first team took all three points in the Midlands Conference League clash.
A reverse hit from captain Sophie Thompson gave the home side the lead after just three minutes.
And a deflected effort from Lucy Walton doubled Stourport’s advantage from a short corner.
Oxford pulled a goal back from a short corner of their own following a goalmouth scramble.
However, the goal came too late in the game as Stourport took the points.
Elsewhere, Stourport men’s 2nds fielded six under-15 players in a 4-0 defeat against Leek 2nds in Midlands Division Four West.
The visitors worked tirelessly throughout as two clinical finishes in either half settled the game.
