STOURPORT Hockey Club’s women’s first team celebrated a 5-1 win against Harleston Magpies 2nds following a six-hour round trip.
Stourport made the three-hour drive to Suffolk for the Midlands Conference League fixture.
The visitors broke the deadlock on five minutes when Sophie Thompson found the net from a well-worked penalty corner.
Harleston equalised soon after only for Thompson to restore Stourport’s lead with her second goal of the game after taking the ball around the home goalkeeper.
And the away side struck again as Emma Nobales scored her first-ever National League goal from a penalty corner.
Stourport took a three-goal lead into the break when Laura Price converted a penalty flick one minute before the interval.
And Stourport stretched their lead in the second half to seal a convincing victory on the road.
Elsewhere, Stourport men’s first XI suffered a 3-1 defeat against City of Peterborough in the Midlands Conference League.
Peterborough opened the scoring early in the second quarter only for Chris Kendall to draw Stourport level with a reverse shot after the break.
However, the visitors reclaimed the lead late in the third quarter and sealed the victory after Stourport pulled their keeper off the pitch for an extra player.
Stourport men’s second XI lost 3-0 against Shrewsbury in Midlands Division Four West after failing to convert a number of chances.
However, Stourport men’s fourth XI came from behind to win 4-2 against Olton and West Warwickshire 4ths in the Midlands Division Seven South West.
Stourport fell behind against the run of play early on but drew level soon after courtesy of Thomas White’s strike from a short corner.
And the home side completed the turnaround when John Kane found the net shortly before the break.
Olton levelled the game in the second half only for Kane to out Stourport back in front while the hosts added a fourth goal late on to seal the points.
