THE FIRST meeting of the Stourport Vision Steering Group has taken place.
The group brings together representatives from Stourport-on-Severn Town Council, Wyre Forest District Council and Worcestershire County Council. Local community and business groups are also part of discussions.
Together they will look at the interventions contained within the Stourport Vision document, and how they could be turned into reality. The focus will be placed on making the town an even better place to live, work and visit.
The document looks at the demographics of the town. It also examines what people said about it, with regard to what makes it unique and what issues it has.
Among the unique aspects, people highlighted the river and canals, the fair as a fun attraction, parks and green spaces. Community spirit, local pubs and shops and historic significance were also praised.
The issues included traffic and infrastructure, housing development, a lack of variety in shops, anti-social behaviour and crime, public services and facilities and environment and cleanliness.
