Kidderminster pub and Cookley Club through to CAMRA regional contest

THE TWO venues – the pub and the club – chosen by Wyre Forest CAMRA (Campaign For Real Ale) are through to the regional competition.

The branch’s Pub of the Year, the King and Castle, and Club of the Year, The Cookley Sports Club, have both won the Worcestershire round of their respective competitions.

The King and Castle pub, at Kidderminster Station is owned by Severn Valley Railway. The venue was surveyed by visitors from the three other county CAMRA branches. It scored the average highest on a range of criteria. There were many winning attributes of the King and Castle. They included its warm hospitality and an impressive selection of quality beers. It was also praised for being a comfortable, relaxing environment that encourages conversation and enjoyment.

Wyre Forest branch chair Rob Budworth said: “Sincere congratulations and fingers crossed as they now go forward to compete against the winners from Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire for the West Central Regional awards.”
