A TALENTED Bewdley boy, who has mastered solving the Rubik’s Cube, is using his talent to raise funds for the Midlands Air Ambulance (MAA) after the charity saved his granddad’s life.
George Andrews, 10, has set himself the challenge of completing the taxing task in under three minutes – and he will broadcast his attempt live on Facebook at 2pm on Easter Monday, April 6.
He will be ably assisted by his brother Alfie who will be the ‘tech guy’, filming the event as Alfie gets busy solving.
The MAA is a cause close to George’s heart and he chose it after medics from the helicopter service saved his granddad Spike following a motorbike crash.
George is hoping to raise £500 for the cause with the cash being generated through donations and a raffle run in conjunction with the challenge.
Prizes include a £50 Amazon voucher, £25 Roblox voucher and £10 to spend at The Garden Kitchen in Bewdley.
There will also be some toys up for grabs, donated by Damien from Smyths Toys in Kidderminster.
This is not the first fundraiser the boys have done, previously raising £1,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, £280 for Bewdley’s All Saints Church, £100 for Great Ormond Street Hospital, £150 for Worcestershire’s Neo Natal Unit and £350 for the Home Ed Community.
Mum Tara and dad Mike said: “We couldn’t be more proud of the effortless perseverance both George and Alfie have shown through their involvement in multiple projects.
“They continue to surprise us every day with new and fun ideas.
“Their Facebook page has already raised well over £2,000 through the fundraising projects they’ve taken on and this latest cube challenge means so much to all of us.”
They thanked everyone who donated prizes for the raffle.
