A CENTURY of community spirit is set to be celebrated as the Bewdley Carnival returns to the town’s streets later this month.
The carnival, first held in 1926, will take place from midday on Saturday, June 27, with organisers promising this year’s event will showcase the vibrant community spirit that will carry them into the next century.
The popular event will make its way through Bewdley Town Centre before dispersing to allow festival goers to enjoy the numerous other activities.
Bewdley Carnival began as a combined land and river parade as a tribute to the town’s close relationship with the River Severn.
As it enters its centenary year, organisers have promised a truly unforgettable day packed with entertainment, floats, live performances and activities for all ages.
A spokesperson for the Bewdley Carnival organising committee said: “Reaching our 100th year is an incredible achievement that belongs to every person who has ever volunteered, attended or supported Bewdley Carnival over the decades.
“This extraordinary milestone marks a century of bringing joy, community spirit and festivity to the people of Bewdley and the wider Wyre Forest area.
“This year we want to celebrate not just our past, but the vibrant community spirit that will carry us into the next century.”
In celebration of the centenary, this year’s Carnival Raffle offers the community the chance to win prizes with the grand prize being a Safari Lodge stay at West Midlands Safari Park.
Last year’s event saw live music, a food court, local and town traders, a funfair, live entertainment and garden games.
As well as providing a popular day of activities for people to enjoy, Bewdley Carnival also raises funds for good causes and not-profit organisations.
The 2025 edition saw organisers pledge £2,000 for the Friends of The Maypole.
