THE ANNUAL duck race in Bewdley attracted large numbers of people and families to the town when it was held on Easter Monday.
Many businesses reported the event, organised by the Kidderminster and District Lions Club, had increased footfall.
More than 900 ducks entered the race and a total £2,800 was collected for the Lions’ charities.
The Duck Race has become a very large logistical event which the Lions Club could not provide without families and friends and the help of other organizations giving freely of their time.
The Rotary Club of Bewdley provided marshals for the bridge to keep everyone safe.
The canoe clubs of Wyre Forest and Stourbridge collected ducks to stop them going downstream and polluting the River Severn.
And the Severn Area Rescue Association who provided water safety cover for the duck race.
Lions President Ron Cross expressed his sincere thanks to all who came and volunteered to make a safe and enjoyable event.
