RESIDENTS in Bewdley are being urged to have their say on travel and road safety in the town.
The Bewdley Travel, River Crossing and Active Travel Survey has been launched by the town council’s Road Safety Group.
It wants residents, visitors, businesses, commuters, parents and young people to take part in the new community survey, looking at how people travel around Bewdley and cross the River Severn.
The survey has been expanded, following initial feedback gathered through school travel research.
It now aims to build a wider picture of travel habits, road safety concerns and the importance of river crossings to everyday life in the town.
The information gathered will help the Road Safety Group better understand why people cross the river, how residents and visitors move around the town and the barriers to walking and cycling in Bewdley,
It will also seek what improvements people would most like to see in Bewdley.
Questions include how often people cross the River Severn and whether journeys are linked to work, schools, shopping, healthcare, recreation or visiting friends and family. It will also ask whether improved pedestrian and wheeled access would encourage more active travel.
The survey forms part of wider work being undertaken by the Road Safety Group to promote safer walking and cycling routes and increase understanding of traffic and pedestrian movement within the town.
Councillors are keen to encourage as many responses as possible from all sections of the community, including residents, commuters, visitors and tourists, local businesses, school families and older residents.
The views of users of parks, riverside areas and community facilities are also being urged to have their say.
The findings will help provide a stronger evidence base for future discussions with Worcestershire County Council and other agencies regarding active travel and pedestrian infrastructure within Bewdley.
The survey opens today (Friday, May 22) and closes on Friday, June 26.
It can be completed online or by paper copy available from Bewdley Town Council.
