Cabinet reshuffle as Wyre Forest councillor steps down

Ryan Smith 13th May, 2026

WYRE Forest District Council has a new cabinet member after Councillor Ian Hardiman stepped down from his role on the authority’s top table.

Councillor Ian Hardiman has been replaced by Coun Tracey Onslow as the cabinet member for Culture, Leisure, Arts and Community Safety after he stepped down from the post with immediate effect.

Coun Onslow has previously served on the Cabinet in this role.

Coun Onslow said: “It’s an exciting time to be returning to the Cabinet.

“The Brinton Park project is in full swing, we’ve just opened the new Talbot Park, and we are planning our Music in the Park events.

“It’s a big job, but one I’m very much looking forward to taking on again.”

The Council has been invited to appoint Coun Hardiman as Chair of the Licensing Committee.

Coun Hardiman has chaired the Worcestershire Regulatory Services Board since the autumn and will continue as a member of that Board if appointed as Chairman of the Licensing Committee.

Coun Marcus Hart, the leader of the council, added: “I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to Councillor Hardiman for his outstanding service on the Cabinet, including many years’ service as my Deputy Leader.

“He has held a number of demanding portfolios over the years and has always brought commitment, experience and sound judgement to the role.

“I am pleased that the Council is being asked to support his continuing to play an important part in the council as Chair of the Licensing Committee, where his knowledge will be invaluable.

“Coun Onslow brings a strong understanding of the role and a proven track record of delivery, as well as a bucket load of energy.

“It’s great to have her back in the Cabinet, and I know she will make an immediate and positive contribution.”
