A KIDDERMINSTER church cafe has been given an award for its work to ensure the café is a warm and welcoming space for all.
Café Chad, at St Chad’s Church, has been given a ‘No Barriers’ Award, which is organised by Wyre Forest District Council and celebrates those individuals, businesses and organisations who go the extra mile to help others.
The cafe opens twice each week, on Monday and Wednesday mornings, and is run entirely by volunteers.
Four times a year, the café organises a table top sale, which raises money for different local and national charities.
The awards reflect the remarkable breadth of ways local people and organisations make Wyre Forest a more inclusive place.
It also looks to recognise those who demonstrate that inclusion is at the heart of how they operate.
Café Chad members received their award at a special ceremony on April 16, where it was presented to them by Coun Fran Oborski, chair of the awards panel.
Mattie Underhill from St Chad’s Church said: “This is an award for all the volunteers and customers who help make Cafe Chad a welcoming and safe place for all in our community.
“It was an honour to accept the award on everyone’s behalf.”
