TWO county councillors have pledged to support the future of Kidderminster’s Gilt Edge Bowling Club after they were welcomed to the venue.
Coun Ian Cresswell, Cabinet Member for Environment and Communities, and Coun Rob Wharton, Cabinet Member for Finance, paid a visit to the bowling club, where they met members, learned about its history and saw first‑hand how it continues to play an important role in local community life.
Both councillors both committed funding to help promote the venue, raise its profile across the local area, and support improvements to the club’s grounds.
It is hoped the cash boost will help enhance facilities, attract new members and ensure the club remains a vibrant and accessible community asset for Kidderminster.
Coun Cresswell said: “Clubs like this are at the heart of our community.
“There’s a real sense of pride here, and it’s wonderful to see people of different generations enjoying time together.”
Coun Wharton added: “Gilt Edge Bowling Club shows just how friendly and inclusive local sports clubs can be.
“It’s a genuinely family‑friendly venue where people can enjoy sport, socialise and feel part of something positive.”
