ALL 140 tickets for a charity lunch in Bewdley featuring TV legend Chris Tarrant sold out before they were even publicly advertised.

The event, taking place at Wharton Park Golf and Country Club on Thursday, September 18, has been organised by the Wyre Forest Committee of Cancer Research UK.

The lunch, which cost £50-per-head is expected to raise more than £4,000 for life-saving cancer research.

Chair of the Wyre Forest Committee, Anita Rose, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Chris to Bewdley and we’re overwhelmed by the level of support this lunch has received.

“He promises to provide an afternoon of entertainment and inspiration for our guests who will also enjoy a fabulous two-course meal in Wharton’s top-class restaurant.”

Mr Tarrant will be sharing the story of his long career and is best known for presenting hit TV show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

The honorary president of the committee is retired broadcaster and Tiswas creator Peter Tomlinson who co-presented the show with Mr Tarrant.

He said, “Chris and I go back a long way and it will be wonderful to have a good catch up with him.

“This is his second time as guest speaker at one of our events and we are incredibly grateful for his support.”

Mr Tarrant, aged 78, began hosting Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in 1998 and presented the show until 2014.
