A BEER from Bewdley Brewery has won a prestigious regional award and will now go forward to take on other ales from around the country.
‘William Mucklow’s Dark Mild’ has been judged a winner in the West Midlands and West Central Region Area of CAMRA’s (Campaign for Real Ale) Champion Beer of Britain competition.
It won in the ‘Brown, Red and Black Ales, Old Ales and Strong Milds’ category.
Champion Beer of Britain (CBOB) is the UK’s premier beer competition. Breweries do not buy entry into it, they are nominated by CAMRA members. They are then blind judged by the campaign group’s tasting panels to select the winners.
Wyre Forest CAMRA chair, Rob Budworth, visited Bewdley Brewery to present the company with its award.
He said: “With this regional area covering the whole of the West Midlands, plus Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, even getting to the judging stage is an achievement.
To be a judged a Gold Winner is particularly pleasing to the proud brewery management, to me and to and local CAMRA members.”
Bewdley Brewery’s William Mucklow’s will now go forward to compete against other area winners to determine the national winner.
Rob added: “If you have never tried it or think ‘Oh, I don’t like milds’, then I recommend you go and sample this excellent beer.”
