SUMMER is in full swing in Stourport-on-Severn, even though our schools have only just broken up for the holidays.
As you will know, our paddling pool reopened at the end of May and has proved popular with families and children.
Please do not underestimate the time, effort and cost it takes to keep the pool clean and safe, and continue to use it responsibly, as residents have done over the past few weeks.
Another way we know summer is here is, of course, through our fabulous floral displays around the parks, gardens and High Street.
I’d like to make a special mention of the wonderful Bramble model in Memorial Gardens.
The model was painted by local heritage group Stourport Forward, with the planting carried out by our own Parks Team.
As always, I have been delighted to attend a number of civic engagements around Worcestershire.
These have included two Armed Forces Day services and, next year, it will be Stourport’s turn to host the service.
A particular highlight was the Family Eco Day, organised by SustFest Wyre Forest and held in War Memorial Park.
It is lovely to see our fabulous park being used for a wide range of community events.
My Mayor’s Surgery dates have now been confirmed and I will be holding monthly sessions in Stourport-on-Severn Library.

As I mentioned in my last column, planning for Stourport Carnival continues apace.
We’ve confirmed some fabulous musical and dance performances and I know it will be a wonderful day for our local community.
We are just about to launch our Carnival Shop Window Competition and I look forward to seeing how creative our local shopkeepers and businesses can be with our ‘Colours of the Rainbow’ carnival theme.
